ASH WEDNESDAY WORSHIP
Wednesday, February 26 at 7pm
Join us for worship at Bethany, Wednesday, February 26, 7:00pm. Ash Wednesday is the Wednesday of the seventh week before Easter and the first day of Lent. The day is named for the practice of imposing ashes on foreheads. Using ashes as a sign of repentance is an ancient practice, often mentioned in the Bible (e.g., Jonah 3:5-9; Job 42:6; Jeremiah 6:26; Matthew 11:21). While marked with the ashes of human mortality, the church hears God’s promise of forgiveness and tastes God’s mercy in the bread of life and the cup of salvation.
WHEN THE WEATHER OUTSIDE IS FRIGHTFUL...
Bethany's Inclement Weather Policy
Bethany’s snow and cancellations policy is as follows: Regarding weekday activities or meetings, if the Spencer School system cancels classes, all events at the church will be cancelled for that day as well and the church office/building will be closed. Regarding weekend activities, if the weather becomes such that it may be unsafe to travel, activities may be cancelled. If so, cancellations will be announced on the KICD radio stations and posted on Bethany’s social media sites and the Bethany website: www.bethluthspencer.com

GOD'S WORK -- OUR WHEELS
Transportation Needs -- Are you able to help?
On occasion at the church we receive calls for help with rides. It may be from a member who has driving restrictions from a recent surgery, from a community member needing help with transportation to medical appointment or someone in need of a ride to worship. The Faith-in-Action team is compiling a list of drivers whom we could call upon to help when the need arises and of drivers who could help share a ride to worship. If this sounds like something you would like to help with, look for a sign-up sheet at the Welcome Center. Thanks!
Seeking Committee Members
You may have noticed that we have not announced a scholarship this year for graduating seniors. The committee apologizes for this. Just so you know, the funds for this need to grow so that we can continue to offer scholarships in the future. We need two people to serve on this scholarship committee. Would you please prayerfully consider this and contact the office to volunteer.
SEEKING OFFICE VOLUNTEERS
Are you able to help?
Office Volunteers are needed to help answer the phone during our Tuesday afternoon staff meetings and to cover some other times coming up in the next few weeks. This would involve light office work, greeting visitors and answering the telephone. If you are able to help please look over the schedule at the Welcome Center and sign up to help as you are able. Thank you!
Sign up for a Sunday in 2019
Many thanks to everyone who provides flowers to beautify the altar. Look for the flower chart posted on the bulletin board in the narthex. JOIN THE MOB - IT'S GOOD FOR YOUR HEALTH
Saturday Mornings -- All Are Welcome!
One of the greatest challenges to men's spiritual, mental and physical health is the lack of close friends. Research tells us that men without a circle of close friends are far more likely to suffer from such things as anxiety and heart disease. Healthy men are connected to Christ and each other. Men Of Bethany (MOB) meet every Saturday morning at 7:30am for breakfast and a Bible study. This group welcomes everyone! Come as you are – enjoy the fellowship – you’ll leave feeling better. J

ARCHIVE ROOM & COMMITTEE
Share your time & talents!!
The Archive Committee needs your help. A room in the lower level of the church is being renovated to contain our important papers, blueprints, photos, memorabilia, etc. Good recordkeeping is important for homes, businesses, taxes, and the milestones in our lives. An archive holds and preserves documents that provide evidence of the past are produced in a variety of formats from paper to electronic. These materials require protection and preservation to prevent the loss of your congregation's history that would occur if the material was neglected. Are you interested in joining the archive committee? Give us a call (262-2327) and let us know!
ROOM AT THE TABLE
You Can Help Support this Mission
Please consider making a donation to support this mission of Bethany that provides morning milk at Johnson School for students who are unable to have it as part of their snack. The program also helps with meals for families in crisis and holiday meals at the public schools for struggling families. This ensures a festive and nutritious meal at Thanksgiving & Christmas time, so no child is embarrassed by having to sit at a separate table with only a sandwich if their parents are behind on payments. Let’s help make “room at the table” for everyone!
CALLING ALL "TECHIES"
Join the Sound Booth Crew!

These are step-by-step processes that you can learn and we are willing to train. If you would like to be a part of the “tech team” please sign up at the Welcome Center. You will be contacted with information about some upcoming training sessions. Thanks!

Our faith calls us to learn more and speak out on issues affecting our vulnerable neighbors and the forces threatening creation.
